Meeting with the Ambassadors of African countries to the Russian Federation

On October 17, 2019, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Committee of Solidarity and Cooperation with the peoples of Asia and Africa Iliyas Magomed-Salamovich Umakhanov held a meeting with the Ambassadors of African countries to the Russian Federation.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to the Russian Federation Antoine Somdah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Gambia to the Russian Federation Jainaba Bah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Russian Federation Lesley Akyaa Opoku Ware, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to the Russian Federation Seko Intchasso, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the Russian Federation Roger Nyango, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mali Tiefing Konate, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Russian Federation Steve Davis Ugba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Russian Federation Mohamed Yongawo, temporary charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the State of Libya to the Russian Federation Mustafa Abu-Sayed, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Senegal to the Russian Federation Stephane Sylvain Sambou, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to the Russian Federation Rudasingwa Mwebaze Gideon, attaché of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the Russian Federation Kin Dong Du, senators of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the leaders of the RCSCAA took part in the discussion on the further development of Russian-African cooperation.

The meeting was timed to coincide with the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum to be held in Sochi on October 23-24. During the event, the participants discussed such important issues of cooperation between our countries as development of trade, economic and investment ties, export of Russian educational services, cooperation with pan-African regional and international organizations.

“For Russia, it is of utmost importance to return to Africa – in political, economic, investment, humanitarian sense” – said Iliyas Magomed-Salamovich Umakhanov.

After the meeting, the ambassadors were invited to the State Central Museum of Contemporary Russian History, where they visited the exhibition of Nikas Safronov’s works “Other worlds”.
