On September 18-19, 2019, the Deputy Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, Vice-President of the Russian Committee of Solidarity and Cooperation with the peoples of Asia and Africa, Andrey Glebovich Baklanov, took part in an international roundtable discussion on the Russian Concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf region. The event was held in Moscow and was organized with the assistance and support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
During the event, the meetings with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Plenipotentiary minister of the Embassy of the Republic of India to Moscow, representatives of the Embassy of the United Kingdom and other countries were held. The proposal made by the Russian Federation was explained to the meetings participants.
On September 18, the issues of cooperation between the Persian Gulf States to ensure peace and security in the region were addressed during the plenary session chaired by Andrei Glebovich Baklanov.
During the discussions, the parties expressed their deep concerns about the escalation of tension in the Persian Gulf region and their desire to look for a constructive solution.
The participants noted the need to create a neutral platform for multilateral discussions of problems the region is facing.
Upon the initiative of the Vice-President of the RCSCAA a question regarding the creation of a monitoring system for threats to the peace and security in the region was raised.
Thus, a discussion on long-term stabilization of the situation in the Persian Gulf region was launched in Moscow.
