Address delivered by President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi

As part of his official visit to the Russian Federation, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has given a speech to the members of the Council of the Federation and representatives of the scientific and expert community.

RCSCAA representatives were invited by the Council of the Federation to participate in this event.

In his speech, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi congratulated the Russians on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Russia and Egypt and said that Egypt took pride in the existing friendly relations with Russia.

He stressed that Russia had unfailingly reached out to his country when Egypt was facing difficulties and hard times, and this historical position would always be highly appreciated by the Egyptian people.

President of Egypt also spoke about fighting terrorism, saying that he believed it was necessary to join forces to oppose this evil that had its roots in yet unresolved economic and social problems.

He highlighted the importance of complying with international law and underlying UN principles, as well as preserving national identity and territorial integrity of all countries. In this context, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi raised the Syria issue, saying that it should be settled in a peaceful way.

President of Egypt expressed his hope that this meeting would become a new starting point and lead to even deeper friendly ties between Russia and Egypt, and “it will not be limited only to inter-parliamentary or official relations, but will also help strengthening relations between our peoples.”

Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi became the first foreign head of state to give an address at the Council of Federation.
